Adirondack Taekwondo Builds Confidence
Sadly, like the pictures above social media and peers can help make our children and even ourselves feel "less than" from time to time. Our belt system gives students confidence and mini-goals to strive for while teaching them the power of goal-setting.
As children get older, that confidence can be as important as the skills themselves. To thrive, children need to trust in their own capabilities while, at the same time, knowing that they can handle it if they aren’t successful at something. It’s by experiencing mastery and rebounding from failure that they develop healthy self-confidence.
In Taekwondo, the process of earning each belt will teach your children the value of consistent effort to achieve their goals. I know for a fact that's it's the winning formula for achieving anything meaningful in life from getting better grades to moving up the career ladder.
Achieving success is about making a 1% positive habit daily and maintaining consistently. I've had the opportunity of helping hundreds of children and adults successfully complete the journey of their Black Belt and seeing first hand the dramatic changes that have occurred as a result.
This past month we had nine students test for their first, second and third degree Black Belts. I can remember one students who struggled with low muscle tone and poor coordination when they first started. Their parents and I watched with pride as they learned how to "fly" through the air performing a perfect flying side kick a few years ago. What's great is how they broke their boards this past weekend performing the same technique!
This past weekend was AWESOME and I'm so proud of their abilities as Black Belts because they never gave up. Most important, they carry themselves with confidence and self-esteem.
Congratulations to all our new Black Belts!

Last year our summer camps were so popular with our families. We did our very best to keep our students safe while enjoying summer together. This summer we are hosting two (2) half day summer camps and one (1) full day camp. We just spoke with the town of Clifton Park and as of today it looks like the half day summer camps are not happening in the towns. In addition we have decided to host our full day summer camp the week of August 23-27 when town camps are not available. Please download the pdf files below with our summer camp details.
